Huddersfield Giants hammer Widnes Vikings to cement their position in the Top-Eight

The Super 8s are within the sights of the Huddersfield Giants after hammering the Widnes Vikings 40-0.

The game was effectively over at the half, with the Giants going in 24 points up thanks to tries from the likes of Shannon Wakeman, Jermaine McGillvary and Ryan Hinchcliffe.

This was a return to great defensive form for the Giants, and the first time they stopped an opponent scoring since April 2016.

If the Yorkshire club can beat Leigh Centurions next Friday, their place in the Super League next year will be automatically confirmed, avoiding a repeat of last year’s Middle 8s.
