Whether aspirations lie in being the opening batsman for Yorkshire County Cricket Club, a striker for Liverpool, or a try-scoring winger for Salford Red Devils, all sports fans would grasp the opportunity to play for the clubs that they support. But for most fans, that will always remain a dream.

What is the next best thing?

Alan Keegan is the stadium announcer for Old Trafford, the home of England’s most successful football club, Manchester United. Before he worked for the club he was a United season ticket holder for over 20 years.

SportSphere took a trip to his office for a chat, and it was hard not to be overwhelmed by the shrine of signed Manchester United memorabilia that engulfs the room. One of the newest pieces to catch our eye is a Bayern Munich top signed by legendary German footballer, Bastian Schweinsteiger.
